Our Journey of Environmental Stewardship at Grace Episcopal Church. Saturday, July 5, 2014. Water Chestnut Pull August 9th, 2014. Water chestnuts are an invasive species in the Mystic River. This means that they are not only not native to the river, but they are causing harm to the river by being there. The Mystic River Watershed Association, the City of Medford and the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation have been working together for several years to remove these plants.

What better thing to do on a rainy day in January than take a look back at the year that was and reminisce on some of our greener achievements in 2012? As the season progressed, we planted the gardens surrounding the pond with vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Strawberries, beans, and peppers were grown in hanging baskets. And planters were packed full of root vegetables on the other side of the pond.
